December is here, which means ski areas all across North America are opening their slopes and gearing up for the busy and bountiful winter season.
And just in time for the winter wonderland, USA Today’s “10Best” wondered which North American ski resorts are the top of the top. Naturally, they asked their readers to vote for their favorite resorts — mountains boasting serious snowfall, varied terrain, lots of lift access and all the desirable amenities every skier dreams of.
And guess what? We’re in the top five! Number four, to be exact. So, what exactly did USA Today say about Alta Ski Area?
“With a 2,020-foot vertical drop, Alta is famous for its powder-covered expert slopes, but there’s plenty of terrain for beginners and intermediates as well–2,200 skiable acres and over 116 named runs. Snowboarding isn’t allowed here, so if you’re going to enjoy all Alta has to offer, you’ll have to do so on skis.”
