There’s one thing you can always expect from the weather — the unexpected. This month proved that to be undeniably true, thanks to August-like temperatures in mid-November. Short sleeves and flip-flops in fall? Could this month get any stranger?
Needless to say, our Nov. 18 opening date was postponed — much to the chagrin of our snow-loving flock. Perhaps it was all that giving of thanks, but it appears all that was needed was a little turkey and stuffing to make the white stuff fly once again.
With a cumulative snowfall of only 4 inches at the beginning of the month, Alta has now welcomed more than 50 inches of powdery goodness since Nov. 1. (Thank you, Mother Nature.) It’s still a bit below the average November snowfall of 77 inches — but we’ll take it, poles and shiny skis in hand.
Now that we’re all seeing white, are you ready to hit the slopes? Our new official opening day of Dec. 2 is only a few days away, so now is the perfect time to book your Alta adventure. After all, who needs fun in the sun when you can dip low in the snow?
