Mother Nature Knows Best

While there’s not a prettier sight on this entire earth than fresh white powder against the dark, majestic peaks of Alta and Snowbird, the snow will melt away, and we’re reminded of how Mother Nature never quits. And since our Alta Earth Day celebration was cancelled this year for reasons we don’t need to elaborate on, we weren’t able to give Alta and Mother Nature their just due.

As avid skiers, we really live for the winter. It’s like a reverse hibernation for us. And the more snow the better, of course. That’s why we find it so important to conserve our home and practice sustainable habits to keep the snow coming back every year.

The Alta Environmental Center was created in 2008 to guide the ski area’s sustainability efforts and guard our natural environment. Their goals to conserve resources, promote initiatives and educate people in the Alta community has not been lost on us. This where we work, live and do what we love: ski.

This offseason while you’re already gearing up for next year, let’s keep our Mother Earth in mind. Consider handing in your used ski gear to a local resale store. Consignment stores in the area, like 2^nd Tracks Sports and The Gear Room, accept hard and soft goods for payment. Also, please recycle the gear you have to part ways with before winter. Recycle Utah accepts standard and difficult recyclable items like ski gear.
