While you’re away from Alta this summer, we’re taking the time to make some significant changes to your most cherished Alta ski lodge. Check out the list of improvements below and what to expect for the 2016/17 ski season.
Ski Locker Room
Out with the old (and small) and in with the new (and appropriately-sized) lockers! That’s right. We’ve removed all of the old ski lockers and are now installing a new set of larger ones, which will be more compatible with larger skis. Benches will be installed in the middle of the room, where a row of lockers once stood creating a much more open space allowing more natural light to reach the entire area. Lastly, the locker room will be treated to a fresh new floor.
Guest Rooms
Nordic Rooms
Nordic Room lovers rejoice! All of our Nordic Rooms (you know, the smaller rooms with shared bathrooms) on the second floor are being completely renovated. This includes updating the sinks, carpeting, walls, drapes and light fixtures. Speaking of fixtures – did you know that some of the in-room fixtures were over 30 years old? It was time for an update!
We’re also warming things up with the addition of new heaters to the second floor Nordic Rooms. These heaters will replace the simple fan-forced vent system that we have been using for 60 years. This update will give each guest much more control over the temperature in their room.
And finally – gone are the days of sharing your bathroom with bar patrons. We’re busy creating a new set of bathrooms on the second floor that will be for the sole use of bar patrons. So the current bathrooms that are for the use of the Nordic Room guests on the second and third floor will only be accessible to those guests. Both hallways will have locked doors that will require a guest room key.
Dorm Room
We will be installing a large, private bathroom to the men’s dorm room that will also include a shower.
1st Floor Alpine Room (Room 43)
The 1st floor Alpine Room located across from the Ski Shop has never been a very popular room for our guests. Due to its proximity to the public spaces, noise levels from the shop and the lobby were too much for overnight guests. So we decided to do a little switcharoo. This space is being converted into our new public restrooms while the current restroom near the lobby stairwell will be converted into a new guest room complete with two twin beds and a private bath.
One Bedroom Suite (Room 75)
Increasing comfort for our guests traveling as a family is always on our minds. So we’re taking the One Bedroom Suite and reconfiguring it to include two real queen beds and a couch bed verses just one queen bed and a fold-out sofa sleeper.
